The Vermilion Reach Group exists to strengthen Vermilion Parish by connecting people with resources, opportunities, and support that help individuals and families thrive. We believe every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and empowered regardless of their age, background, or circumstances.
Founded in 2020, Vermilion Reach Group was created to continue a legacy of service, compassion, and community impact. What began as a desire to honor the life and example of Gaynell Darby has grown into a movement dedicated to uplifting our community through meaningful programs, strategic partnerships, and acts of service.
Through youth initiatives, senior outreach, community events, volunteer opportunities, and support programs, we work to address real needs while building stronger relationships throughout Vermilion Parish. Our goal is not simply to provide assistance, but to create lasting connections that inspire hope, encourage growth, and foster a sense of belonging.
We believe that when people come together with a shared purpose, communities become stronger, families become healthier, and future generations are empowered to succeed.

Roderick "Nu" Darby
Roderick Darby is the President of The Vermilion Reach Group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to community upliftment through service, leadership, and meaningful engagement. Inspired by the legacy of his mother, Gaynell Darby, he is passionate about creating opportunities that strengthen families, empower youth, and foster unity throughout Vermilion Parish.
His vision continues to guide the organization’s efforts to build a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Nikia Johnson
Nikia Johnson serves as Vice President of The Vermilion Reach Group and brings a strong passion for community engagement, leadership, and service. Through her dedication to helping others, she works alongside community partners, volunteers, and local organizations to develop initiatives that create meaningful and lasting impact.
She is committed to building stronger relationships within the community and ensuring that every individual feels seen, supported, and valued.
